Living With Integrity~~~~~~Susie Austin

Living with integrity means:

  • Not settling for less than what you know you deserve in your relationships.
  • Asking for what you want and need from others.
  • Speaking your truth, even though it might create conflict or tension.
  • Behaving in ways that are in harmony with your personal values.
  • Making choices based on what you believe, and not what others believe.     Barbara DeAngelis

This is a very important and serious subject as I was reminded of very recently. I was having a discussion with someone who was heartbroken and struggling and we decided to discuss her own integrity.

Why does she continually seem to have bad relationships and end up sad? These points seem to be the answer to living life with integrity.I asked her if she has settled for less than she deserved and she said yes.

The next question is this, do you sacrifice your own integrity for what seems to be what you want at the moment and at a later time realize this is not living up to even your own standards? I feel by getting to know ones self, having personal values, and believing God will carry you through. Work diligently on  building self esteem as this is a foundation of living a life with integrity.

Unfortunately, it does not come without personal struggles and lessons learned. The wonderful part of this is although it is hard to see this beautiful young woman struggle, I am proud of all the positive changes and personal growth she has shown the past year. She has learned to love what’s on the inside, to never compromise herself to fit someone else’s wants and needs. She has learned to speak the truth and stand up for her beliefs.

Think of the people in your life and maybe tell them you admire their integrity as this can be  very difficult to make choices on what you believe. Take a look at what your personal values are and decide if you are in line with your beliefs. Speak the truth and never let others define who you are.

Love life and live it with integrity.
