A Season of Service and Giving~~~~

Helen Keller:

Happiness cannot come from without. It must come from within. It is not what we see and touch or that which others do for us which makes us happy; it is that which we think and feel and do, first for the other fellow and then for ourselves.

As the holiday season is upon us I am reminded this is a season of giving. The worship service I attended today centered on having a Merry Christmas vs. an ordinary Christmas. The question was asked if anyone had ever had a disappointing or unhappy Christmas many hands were raised. This can be a very stressful and lonely time for many for many reasons. It can also be a time of love, kindness, joy, and wonderful memories.

I encourage you to ask yourself how I may serve this Christmas. If you have never done this I suggest try it and find how rewarding and life changing it can be. There are many ways to serve from ringing bells for the Salvation Army to being a friend to someone who is alone. I invite you to share your ideas and your traditions in which your family serves during this season.

Mary said “I am the Lord’s servant, and I am willing to do whatever he wants.” Luke 1:38

I wish I could be as confident as Mary was, but I have learned to trust God more as life takes turns and detours. Part of Jesus teachings was to love people, by loving others, by not being selfish, and humbling yourself this will bring you great joy. As we continue into this holiday season let us not forget the love and joy that comes with Christmas. If you have never done any giving of yourself or your treasure consider it this year and know the inner joy and peace it brings.

Have a wonderful and blessed day my friends.

  1. Wow, sometimes we get so caught up in our own problems that we forget what life is really about.

Thanks you made my day a little brighter

  2. Very well said. We as humans, we tend to forget the real meaning of Christmas, and how Jesus was born to save us all. Thanks very much for your nice message.
