What is Christmas?~~~~~~Susie Austin

What is Christmas? It is tenderness for the past, courage for the present, hope for the future. It is a fervent wish that every cup may overflow with blessings rich and eternal, and that every path may lead to peace.

  

The joy and peace that comes with the season does not come without thought and preparation. It takes a good deal of work and attention, but the results are wonderful and worth the effort. I believe the key with much of the holiday stress or calm comes from within.

 I have developed the attitude this year of not getting worked up or frustrated. It was a good point yesterday and my family had a good laugh at my expense as I had called a family meeting to discuss the attitudes in the home at the time.  I asked how many have been reading my blog and then asked if they had been paying attention. J It had been a bit tense but my oldest daughter started the meeting with a wonderful prayer and calmed the storms almost immediately.

After the family meeting instead of going shopping we watched a family Christmas movie and by the time we went shopping the crowds had thinned out and shopping was a wonderful experience.

 The important lesson here is this, instead of racing and stressing and nerves on end, make the decision to stay calm! Things will happen if we are stressed, or calm. Take your time and stop rushing, talk to people wherever you are. 

 Reflect on Christmas past with your family, it is wonderful to hear the stories my kids remember from Christmas past. Courage for the present as this is a time of great hope and new vision. Make amends with whom you feel the need, forgive those that need to be forgiven and pray for peace. Pray for a world where we can live free with no fear.

May you be blessed today and everyday with love and hope for the future.

    It truly has helped me to choose CALM.
