Are You A Teacher or Student or Both~~Susie Austin

John Dewey:

Education is not preparation for life;

education is life itself.

How many times have we said, “If I knew then what I know now”?  We learn from life’s lessons.  We don’t get do-overs but would we want to? It is how we use the lessons we have learned in life to become better people.

 Can you say I have no regrets? Of course not! Human nature is not perfect but the question is, how we use what is learned in life to better our life and the lives of people around us.

Looking back to experiences in your life good and bad, what have you done to grow and learn from your past. Great examples can begin in your own family. Teaching our children not to make the same mistakes seems simple but in reality it is very difficult to change family patterns. Breaking the cycle can be done and it may not seem as difficult as it sounds. I challenge you to take this out of the family and share with other people in your life. You have the opportunity to make someone else’s life better just by sharing knowledge of lessons learned.

This is also the perfect opportunity to learn by listening to others around you. Are you a good listener or are you thinking of the next thing you are going to say when others are talking.

I encourage you to begin to listen to the people around you and learn from their life’s lessons to make yours even better. Become a better person and be proud of what you have accomplished and share what you have learned from the bad. This will help you stay positive and grow.  Never stop challenging yourself to be positive and the kind of person you would like in a best friend.
