Who is God?~~~~~~~~~~Susie Austin

God left the world unfinished;

the pictures unpainted,

the songs unsung,

and the problems unsolved,

that man might know the joys of creation.
–Thomas S. Monson

Have you ever asked the questions, who is God, how might we even begin to understand him?

I am sure we have all asked these questions at one time or another. I don’t think we can look at the world around us and not wonder about its creation or it’s Creator.

I was reading a book written by Billy Graham titled The Key To Personal Peace.  In this book he speaks about four of Gods most significant attributes.

God is spirit which means without body

God is a person, all through the Bible it says God loves, God says, God does.

God is holy and righteous; we whose faults are obvious cannot imagine the absolute purity and holiness of God.

God is Love; God loves us in spite of our sin.

How can we be certain about who and what God really is? We are reminded of the story of a little boy flying a kite, the wind was blowing and large billowy clouds were all across the sky. The kite went up until it was hidden by the clouds and a man asked the boy. “What are you doing?” He replied “I am flying a kite.” The man said “how can you be sure, you can’t see your kite?” The boy said “I can’t see it but every little while I feel a tug on the string so I know for sure it is there!”

I have had the opportunity to have worked with many people over the years that have begun to relive their lives after much tragedy, difficulties and illness. Many were broken their lives were devastated  and had given up on God and questioned his existence. The simplest analogy I had at that time which could be understood was this.

If you live your life like there is a God and there is, you will be rewarded in heaven.

If you live your life like there is a God and there is not you won’t be out anything.

BUT, if you live your live like there is NO God and there is you are in a world of hurt.

It’s ok for you to smileJ

This sounds very simple but to broken, shattered and sad human beings it may just be the one thing they might understand to help them realize life will get better by having faith and trust.  Remember this fact, God did not abandon you, you abandoned him.

Remember these words and don’t be afraid to use them, you might be able to make all the difference in someone else’s life. This in turn will make a tremendous difference in your own life. Reach out to others so they may know the love and peace that comes with understanding Gods love.

One Response to “Who is God?~~~~~~~~~~Susie Austin”

  1. This is beautiful MOM…

a few verses that i’ve been reading thru and especially focusing on Genesis in church here in LaCrosse, are really hitting home…

Gen. 50:20 You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.

Gen. 17:1b ‘I am God Almighty; walk before me and be blameless.’
