On Reality and The Mind~~~Susie Austin

Eventually you will see that the real cause of problems is not life itself. It’s the commotion that the mind makes about life that really causes problems.

Michael Singer

When was the last time you thought your way into a crisis and in the end it was not  as bad as your mind told you it would be? I have a saying I love to use which is this; “My mind is a bad neighborhood; I don’t go in there alone anymore!” We have all played tricks on our mind; there are mind altering substances to mask what is going on in the mind, but in order to have peace of mind, how do we ease our mind?

This sounds pretty deep doesn’t it. However we need take a good look at reality. You might consider this reality test which I use quite often. I have a duck that sits near my computer in my office to remind me; “If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, well then it just might be a duck!” I believe we can think ourselves into many situations good and bad, but more often bad. Let’s take a look on how to use positive thinking and using reality in a good way.

Answer these three questions as truthfully as possible.

 What is reality today?

What are the things happening in your life that you are happy with and not happy with. The key here is to be honest in each area, personal, relationships, career, health, are a few.

What would you like reality to be tomorrow?

If you could change things what would you change, how would you like your life to look like? Be honest but also be realistic. I doubt if being a rock star would qualify, especially if you don’t know how to sing or play. 🙂

What steps can you take today to begin to make this happen?

List steps you might be able to take to make this a reality and begin to vision your life in a little bit different light.

When you are finished with these steps write them on a paper and tape it to a place you will see them every day, For example, a mirror, cupboard, bathroom wall, refrigerator. Make sure they are positive to remind you how your reality will look when you take the steps toward the life you envision. We all can have the vision of a happier life and we can carry the vision to reality by using our mind in a positive way.
