Is It Hard To Be Humble?~~~Susie Austin

“I long to accomplish great and noble tasks,

but it is my chief duty to accomplish

humble tasks as though

they were great and noble.

The world is moved along,

not only by the mighty

shoves of its heroes but also

by the aggregate of the tiny pushes

of each honest worker.”

Helen Keller

When was the last time you remember being humbled?  Humbled meaning not proud or arrogant, to be modest.  We have heard this word many times and heard many statements to go with it such as; It was a humbling experience, my humble opinion, my humble apology, and welcome to my humble home.

Do you remember the song, “O Lord it’s hard to be humble, when you’re perfect in every way?”

I think there are times in our live we need to take a humble break and look at our own selves. Manybecome arrogant and feel they are better than others in their own eyes, however many are on the other side of the spectrum and have suffered with self-esteem issues and never feel they can quite measure up to others.

This is a time to reflect on yourself and see where you fit in the spectrum, hopefully someplace in the middle.

If you can honestly look at yourself and see a bit of arrogance consider doing something nice for someone. Donate to a homeless shelter, visit with the guests there and you might feel a little humble and understand real life a little better.

If you have self esteem issues or feel no self worth the same applies to you. Do something nice or be a friend to another person. You could be the world to an elderly person who has no one to visit them.

Where do you feel you are today in your humble opinion? My heroes are not famous celebrities, they are the everyday people I meet on a constant basis that never give up under difficult circumstances. I am humbled every day as I am privileged to see progress and share small and large victories. We are all on this journey together, whatever it is you do, do it with pride and to the best of your ability.
