A Soft Answer~~~~Susie Austin

A gentle answer turns away wrath,

but a harsh word stirs up anger

Proverbs 15:1

Think back to when you were young; were you in a household with a lot of noise? Were you ever reprimanded for spilling milk, breaking a glass or fighting with your siblings?  I must say with eight children in my family growing up was an adventure.

We have all heard the saying “you can catch more flies with honey” I am not sure I care for the phrase however it is one we can all relate with.

I recently read a story about a woman who was talking about being a small child and while in an art class accidentally shattered the paste jar, trembling she went to her teacher and told her the truth and instead of the teacher being angry with her, she was kind and comforted her. This teacher made such a lasting impression on her; she went on to become a teacher and for forty years made a difference in the lives of children she taught.

Always remember kind words bring wonderful results while harsh words stir up anger and feed negative thoughts. It takes a bit of effort if you are accustomed to being more aggressive and loud. The results are worth the effort.

I have learned much over the last few years but one of the most important lessons is the softer less stressful approach to life. I try not to raise my voice and I know I am much better than in the past.

Soft words and a gentle spirit are essential in moving forward and becoming a good role model for the people in your life.
