Are You A Good Example~~~Susie Austin

“Do-so” is more important than “say-so.”

Pete Seegler

Have you ever heard; do as I say not as I do? Let’s take this one step further and look at ourselves and the example we set. In having a conversation with a group of teenagers I heard some quite interesting things with the most important being how they look to adults for guidance. They look to parents and the examples they set. In these days of single parent families, mixed families, step parents and half siblings it is more important than ever to be a living example to the young people in our lives.

We as adults need to be aware of the examples we set, we also need to put our needs aside at times to put the needs of others in front of our own.

I also feel as parents it is our obligation to teach them about God, take them to church so as adults they can make their own choices with their faith for if we don’t they will not have any base to guide them. It makes me sad to see so many young people struggle.

Consider the examples you are setting for the people in your life and be the “do so” not the “say so.” Learn the difference and be proud of the person you are and the examples you set.
